Wednesday, February 29!, 2012: W2L – Leap Day
It’s Leap Day! Invent a unique Leap Day celebration and describe it in detail.
The reason death sticks so closely to life isn’t biological necessity-it’s envy. Life is so beautiful that death has fallen in love with it, a jealous, possessive love that grabs at what it can. But life leaps over oblivion lightly, losing only a thing or two of no importance, and gloom is just a passing shadow of a cloud.
Yann Martel, Life of Pi
We should celebrate that God has graced us with one more day to live, one more day to love. We should take the day to lose all inhibitions and take leaps of faith. Joy should be accepted as the common norm of the day. Impetuousness should be our mindset. As the Bard might say it, Leap Day should be, ‘ a day of revelry,’ praising and blessing God (or our good fortune, but probably God) for the beauty of life.
Ok, so at first I was really struggling with coming up with anything for this ‘quick write.’ So I was browsing around theQuotationsPage.com for some inspiration (where I found the above quote). As I searched, I came across this:
“Never play Leap-frog with a unicorn.”
I laughed so hard.
At the same time, I texted my sister, giving her the prompt and explaining my lack of creative genius. I didn’t communicate with her until a couple of hours later when she texted me back, saying:
“ leap-frog contests.
whoever loses has to play leap-frog
with a unicorn.”
I kid you not.
